Holy Rule 10 – How the Office is to be Said during the Summer Season

Rule ten seems like an add on that came after the monks kept falling asleep during the day in the summertime.

It basically says from Easter to the start of November the lessons from the book aren’t read.  Instead, one from the Old Testament is given by memory!

So, good news if you need your sleep, there will be 2 less readings in the summer, since there is less dark, and thus, an earlier revelry.
